A Historic Sanctuary of Ancient Wisdom
With the generous support of our well-wishers, Pathanugamee Trust has taken a meaningful step towards strengthening education in rural India by collaborating with Shri Kedarnath Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, located in the peaceful village of Shoritpur, Lamgondi, Rudraprayag District, Uttarakhand.
Established in 1888, this historic institution has been nurturing students for over a century. Affiliated with Uttaranchal Sanskrit University, Haridwar, and recognized by UGC, the Mahavidyalaya offers education from Secondary to Post-Graduation in Sanskrit under the leadership of Principal Dr. Nityanand Pokhriyal.
A Heritage at Risk
Sanskrit is the soul of India’s ancient wisdom—the language of our Vedas, Upanishads, and timeless scriptures. Uttarakhand, known as Devbhoomi, is where this rich heritage flourished. Yet, the institution faces severe challenges:
Faculty Shortage
A shortage of qualified teachers available to instruct advanced traditional courses in remote regions.
Vulnerable Infrastructure
Old building sections that pose safety risks during severe monsoon rainfalls and winter snows.
Geographical Hardship
Students travel long mountain distances, causing high risk of dropping out due to economic strain.
Pathanugamee Trust’s Interventions
We believe no child should be forced to abandon education due to distance or hardship. Our active support projects:
1. Boys’ Hostel Adoption (Since April 2018)
Many students travel from remote mountain villages where daily travel is impossible. Without safe accommodation, students were forced to drop out. Today, our adopted hostel provides free lodging, nutritious food, and secure shelter to 70+ students.
2. Rebuilding Classrooms & Safe Spaces
During 2017–18, Pathanugamee Trust successfully renovated classrooms and sanitation facilities. For 2026–27, our mission is to rebuild deteriorating blocks to shield students from harsh weather conditions.
